As we left Grain Tower I took one last look back.
I would like to come back here some day, go to the tower and wait for the tide to come in. I think that to stay there, totally cut off, and with the water lapping at the walls, would be an incredible experience. I would be stuck there for 12 hours waiting for the tide to recede, but what a thing to do.

…You could drag a canoe or kayak with you 😛
But yes, that would definitely be a fun adventure!
Love this picture 🙂
Thank you!
A very good report of this tower and some really excellent photos.
Thanks jc!
Area’s like the Isle of Grain should remain just a they are…horrifying to think Boris Johnson wants to put an airport on it 😦

Hi there have enjoyed reading about your explorations and lovely pics too, did you know that the grain tower is for sale on zoopla?
Hi Philippa and thank you!
Yes, I saw it was for sale, for £500,000, although that’s going to be a drop in the ocean (no pun intended) compared to the cost of rennovations and running in utility supplies. I’m in two minds about a potential sale. On the one hand the building desperately needs some TLC. On the other hand a sale would probably mean losing one of the great opportunities for exploration along this stretch of coast.
Having said that, I believe the building has been up for sale several times in the past without success…
