Return to Grain Tower Part VI – A Last Look Back

As we left Grain Tower I took one last look back.

Looking Back to Grain TowerI would like to come back here some day, go to the tower and wait for the tide to come in.  I think that to stay there, totally cut off, and with the water lapping at the walls, would be an incredible experience.  I would be stuck there for 12 hours waiting for the tide to recede, but what a thing to do.

Points on this walk (copy and paste the co-ordinates into Google Earth):

  • Grain Beach Car Park:  N 51° 27.582 E 000° 43.046
  • Grain Tower:  N 51° 27.089 E 000° 43.869

Area’s like the Isle of Grain should remain just a they are…horrifying to think Boris Johnson wants to put an airport on it 😦

Hi there have enjoyed reading about your explorations and lovely pics too, did you know that the grain tower is for sale on zoopla?

    • Wingclipped says:

      Hi Philippa and thank you!

Yes, I saw it was for sale, for £500,000, although that’s going to be a drop in the ocean (no pun intended) compared to the cost of rennovations and running in utility supplies. I’m in two minds about a potential sale. On the one hand the building desperately needs some TLC. On the other hand a sale would probably mean losing one of the great opportunities for exploration along this stretch of coast.

Having said that, I believe the building has been up for sale several times in the past without success…
